Simply Spiritual - Bobbie's Words

On a bright, sun filled, Monday morning, I am finally finding the time to put more words to my understanding of God in the world. Isn't it amazing and frightening how busy we all get? There are so many things to attend to that some of the most important things get put off - sometimes indefinitely. Like talking about God!

So where is God for you today? For years, I wouldn't have been able to answer that question at all. God for me was a word without a reality; a prayer to a distant "figure" who listened but didn't interact. God was interested in my good behaviors, not my entire life. And then one day, entirely out of my control, God appeared in my life through a scripture reading I had known for years.

"In the Beginning was the Word and the Word was with God and the Word WAS GOD! (from the prologue to the Gospel of John) And God became entirely REAL in my life, unexplainably, unaccountably real.

That experience brought God into my life as an experience of "New Life", right where I was living. It's not that all my wishes came true or my dreams became a reality. It's that I was no longer alone. God became a constant force in my life, like an expansion of breath, a heart more filled, a knowing that I could connect with the living God anytime I chose. God was there 24/7. That meant that every action included God. That changed my life.

For some time, I've wanted to put words to my understanding of God out into the world for people to read. This is the first of what I hope will be many words and stories about God and life. How do we recognize God in our lives? What happens to us when God becomes real to us?

Recently, I was writing a song about God and these words came into my heart/mind and spirit. "Look for God and God will always find you."

I loved the interplay between "looking and finding". We may not always be consciously looking for God. But my belief is that God is always looking for ways to connect to us - to find us. Let your heart open the door and God will always enter. Let your mind look for new ideas and God will respond. Let your spirit say "yes" and God will find you.

Each moment is a new opportunity to look for God and discover God's presence with you. Peace and Blessings, Bobbie.
